Welcome to the first edition of National Grid truck bingo containing video! It’s been a long time coming. Earlier this week there was massive power outage at the nations 6th largest mall, Destiny USA. The outage lasted for over 24 hours and affected a number of stores in the mall BUT didn’t result in a complete closure. The shopping must go on! Cruising by the mall late in the day I noticed a boom poking into the sky so I stopped by for a closer inspection.
Something really went wrong as three large transformers were already off their pads and awaiting transport. I was getting ready to leave when I noticed another truck pulling into the area, a Freightliner FLD complete with tag trailer.
Crews wasted no time loading him up. Squeezing by an illegally parked Tahoe proved to be the most difficult part of the process.
Also on scene were a two large portable generators. One from Cat and one from Cummins. I felt the C logo cut vents added a nice touch.
No word on what the problem was but I have a feeling National Grid won’t be able to chalk this one up to a squirrel chewing through some wires.
