Trucks and Tractors

Here we see a pleasent shot of a Ford tractor pulling some sort of apparatus used to clean the beach at Fair Haven State Park. I watched the operator makes passes on a quite Sunday morning before the temperature and crowds increased to annoying levels.

And here we see the International HX with factory optional sleeper. This is a truck aimed square at the heart of the Kenworth and Western Star long distance heavy haul markets. Nice looking machine.

There were a few other trucks hanging around the grounds of the 2018 Empire Farm Days extravaganza.

It wouldn’t be a farm show with out tractors and there were plenty of those to go around. Check out this Case IH. I’m not sure what is bigger, the tire or the exhaust system.

New tractors. Old tractors. All tractors.

As I’ve mentioned before, one of my favorites parts of the show is the two day auction of trucks, tractors, and construction equipment.

There was a nice selection of older tractors along with a GMC Topkick from the historic Catskill Game Farm.

Autocar Mondays – ATCA Upper Canada

Today’s Autocar Monday comes to us courtesy of Hugh and his visit to the 3rd Annual ATCA Upper Canada truck show in Athens, Ontario. On display was this stunning late 30’s to early 40’s (?) Autocar dump truck that is part of the Key Stone Truck and Tractor Museum. Old school cool.

The After Show

Yesterday we saw the trucks rolling to the show. Today we see them rolling out of the show.

The 2018 National Brockway Show

As you can, it rained. It rained a lot. But the trucks still came! Over 125 would make their way down main street Cortland and stay all day until the same came out to play.

Slow Moving Trucks Ahead

Life supposedly moves at a slower pace down south. After watching this video from the 2018 ATHS National Show in Lexington, KY I think you might just agree.

Autocar Mondays – Good for Another Thirty

Like anyone with a regular commute you probably take the same path home day after day. I am luckier than most as I usually get to see a nice looking Autocar during my drive.

No matter the kind of day I have or the conditions of the traffic I always kept an eye out for the 6×6 Autocar tow truck at the Syracuse DPW headquarters. It has maintained a regular parking spot on the north side of the massive garage where trucks are stored and serviced for years. It was also a friendly face that I looked forward to seeing on a regular basis. At some point this early spring the truck disappeared for days. And then weeks. And then months. I figured the worst had occurred and the truck had been sold at auction. But how could this be! I follow Auctions International with a religious fervor. With a new mayor elected this past fall a new DPW superintendent took charge and seemingly began to clean house of old trucks. I dug back through the records at AI but couldn’t find any listings of the Autocar. Being the eternal optimist that I am when it comes to trucks (pessimist all other times) I envisioned the truck undergoing a full restore. Well, I’m here to tell you that positive thinking does work. Here is the DK wearing a fresh coat of paint all the way around including new door decals in case you think someone is trying to make the truck look better for an upcoming listing.

I’ll miss the old yellow and blue paint job that was the hallmark of every Syracuse DPW truck but I’m glad this beast will be around for at least a few more years. Now I can start saving to buy it when it actually is put up for sale. 😉

*Update* Sources of true knowledge have concluded this is a DK model.

A look back at this truck from the past 10 years or so. Do you have an Autocar you would like to see featured in Autocar Mondays? Email eric@dailydieseldose.com today!

2018 National Brockway Truck Show

The time is almost upon us, the the 19th annual national Brockway Truck show. As you can see from the flyer below the weekend is jammed full of activities for all to enjoy. This year the Huskie Drive will trace a route similar to the one used to test trucks from the factory. It’s quickly becoming a must attend part of the weekend. Parades, auctions, fireworks and trucks. How can you go wrong? Make plans to attend.

ESATA 2018

Well, another year has come and gone in which I was unable (or willing) to attend the Empire State Antique Truck Association annual show in Stafford, NY. BUT, as in years past I’ve had people nice enough to fill in and share some photos. This year my dad made the trip out and grabbed some great shots.

I know the ATCA Uncle Sam show has earned the reputation of having the most Brockways in a show outside of the National Brockway Show in Cortland but I think the ESATA folks are starting to give them a run for their money!

Next year…..I make this show! (Probably said the same thing last year)

Autocar Mondays – Autocars of the Corn

There has been much discussion about GMO’s and how they impact the food we eat and the crops we grow. Clearly this farmer has been messing around with Big Agra a little to much as his field has started to grow the Autocar DC model of truck.

My dad snapped this shot I assume somewhere near Canandaigua, NY this past weekend. I wasn’t with him but I know this because I saw the same truck in nearly the same field a few years back at the Pageant of Steam. In fact, this truck was an Autocar Mondays feature back in 2014. This time around the field wasn’t as closed in and my dad was able to get a better picture than I did.
