The Truck Show that Wasn’t

A little over a month ago I set out for the 2021 ATCA Northeastern PA Endless Mountain truck show on a rainy Sunday morning. I made it a little more than halfway when I had to turn for a minor family emergency. On the way back home I stopped for a few seconds at USA body in Deruyter, NY. USA Body specializes in ag truck setups so of course there were Internationals.

Take a look at this Paystar. Where has this thing been hiding over the past decade to appear virtually brand new?! Keep in mind that this style of Paystar ended right around the same time the Cat CT660 arrived on the scene in 2011. The International truck factory in Garland, Texas that produced the Paystar switched over to Cat trucks production. While officially still available during the early days of the Cat truck you hardly ever found a new Paystar available on dealer lots or anywhere else. They model returned briefly when the Caterpillar gave up on their truck line but never in noticeable numbers and usually only in a SBA form. It’s quite possible this truck is a decade old. It looks pretty darn good!

Speaking of set back axle here is a some form of 9XXX International.

And here is nearly the same truck in a non SBA format.

When life gives you lemons go photograph Internationals!

Analytics

Analytics. The systematic computational analysis of data or statics. This particular video like all other videos uploaded to YouTube is monitored by Google for a variety of metrics so content creators (that’s me!) can see exactly what we might be doing wrong or right.

When it comes to this video we see that is a poor performer. It ranks #9 out of 10 of my most popular videos and is falling like a stone. My typical YouTube viewer is watching this vidya 15% less often than usual. While audience retention was just 34% the average watch duration was up over minute longer than usual for my average video. So that’s nice. No women watched this video.

Have you seen enough on how the sausage is made? LOL.

Autocar Mondays – A Familiar Face?

This past Friday I went to an auction at the Suit Kote facility in Homer, NY. The company was clearing out some of their older rigs and as we have seen over the years they have a nice collection of nameplates including, Brockway, White, Ford, and of course Autocar.

While browsing the lots this Autocar stood out as a past entry on the website, predating the Autocar Mondays tradition. I was sad to see to see it in its current condition but time does have the impact on us all. Here we see it back in 2012.

It was only after returning home that I was able to look back upon my old photos and realize that I had in fact NOT seen the same truck. The easiest and most telling clue was the fleet number on the bumper. 2212 and 2207.

It wouldn’t shock me at if we were to find out these two trucks rolled off the assembly line one after the other. I’m happy to think that truck from my 2012 photo is still out there and that the fleet numbers didn’t change over the years. 😉

Macboston 18 Truck

I was sitting at my desk the other day slowly dying when I heard what my brain could only interpret as the beautiful music of a Detroit Diesel. I was alive again! With no visual proof of the sound the logical part of my brain quickly took over and determined it be an over active fart can style muffler on a Subaru. Sadness returned.

As it turns out my ears were correct! Parked outside was this beautiful 1980 American LaFrance tiller truck on display at the NYS Fire Chiefs Association annual meet held in downtown Syracuse. The MacBoston 18 Truck is a rolling tribute to all the fallen fire fighters since the groups inception in 1996. You can learn more about this beautiful truck by clicking here.
