18 Tons Trailer and Cargo

Face it. There is nothing to do outside other than succumb to the fearsome power that is the bombogenesis. Your best hope, your only hope, is to stay inside and watch old truck videos. A perfect candidate is this flim documenting the daily run of a trucker between Montreal and New York. Dispatchers, drivers, mechanics and dockmen all have their 15 seconds of fame in this little slice of trucking history. It’s fascinating to see how information was processed and tracked before the age of the computer. Something tells me that while the systems in place may not have been as fast as the electronics of today they were every bit as reliable, probably more so. Anyway, join our Canadian trucking brother has he carries his load of hockey sticks and maple syrup (no joke) to the Big Apple with a brief layover in Glens Falls for coffee!

I watched this only two weeks ago…

I’ll bet that trucker was glad when the Northway was completed in 1967. I was glad to see he was driving a Mack B-61, the favorite tractor of Daily Diesel Dose fans.
