International Cornucopia

If you like rapid motion video of International trucks your ship has come in. Some may think I went out of my way to compile the clips that make up this video but it really didn’t take much more than being in the right place at the right time. I guess International is just everywhere in the CNY truck world. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A Mixer for Everyone

Day two of “Trucks @ Work” continues with a series of cement trucks heading to the jobsite. The first truck to roll by is a Phoenix Mixer which until yesterday was not a company I was familar with. Next the video jumps to the Oshkosh F2346 opearted by Vitale and Robinson Concrete. And last by not least we close with the DM Mack owned by the Saunders Companies. Good times!

I lift things up. I put things down.

Today I kick off a series of videos relating to trucks (and some heavy equipment) on the job. Below you will see a truck that has appeared on DDD before, an International Paystar working for Gypsum Express. This particular job involved lifting steel(aluminium?) wall studs through a narrow window on the 5th floor. The operator made it look easy with smooth and controlled movements from start to finish.

Hell on the Highway

One upon a time SPEED had a great show by the name of Wrecked. The premise was simple, following the daily action that occurs when running one of the largest towing operations in Chicago. Car crashes, truck crashes, heavy equipment, the show had it all. Sadly, like most good programing on SPEED, it went the way of the dodo. But fear not, The National Geographic Channel has stepped up to the plate with their new show Hell on the Highway that chronicles the danger of running a tow truck on the infamous Donner Pass.

Hell on the Highway airs Wednesdays at 10PM.

NYSDOT Freightliner M2 Vac Truck

This Freightliner M2 112 VAC truck is something of a rare setup in the NYSDOT fleet that is comprised mainly of Mack and International trucks. I don’t think this truck represents a switch from Mack to Freightliner but you never know who will win the new bid when the time comes.

At the Dealer – Cat Roll Back

Nothing too outrageous here, just a CT660 setup for life as a roll back. I have yet to see one outside of the dealer lot or truck show but I know they exist. Have you see one? Email Me!

ETF Mining Trucks – A pipe dream?

Innovation is a fact of life. Established ideas of the past may not be the best ideas for the present or the future. That seems to be the driving force between the ETF Haul Trucks. Take a look at the video below.

All in all, this concept appears to have some interesting features that mine owners should love like increased payloads, a tight turning radius, and rotating dump beds. But despite the technological advantages and sky high claims on reliability there has yet to be one EFT Truck produced. According to various sources on the internet EFT is only interested in producing trucks when they ordered, not a single prototype can be found. Another point of concern is some form of lease program for the trucks and maintenance provided on by EFT. So far, it appears that those conditions are enough to keep mine operators in the seats of their traditional diesel/electric haul trucks.

Still Working – Galion Grader

I’m a fan of the color green, even the shade of emergency/lime green on this Galion Grader. This grader was hanging out the local CSX rail yard. I really don’t have a clue on the age of this machine but it seems to be well maintained. If I had to guess I would say it was nearly 30 years old and quite possibly a hold over from the Conrail days.
