Permanent Resident

I went to the Lake George this past weekend and the Empire State Towing and Recovery Association was holding their annual convention.

It seems with each passing year the trucks become larger and more powerful…and expensive!

As some of your might have noticed all of my senses are constantly on alert for International S-Series and 4000 Series trucks. Out of the corner of my eye I happened to notice the unmistakable cab roof lines of my dreams.

This pristine example hails from the early 80’s as it still sports the IH emblem on the grill. Amazing.

On the way home I took a route through the lesser traveled regions of the state. Preston greatly enjoyed the lack of internet on his tablet. Pulling over to console him regarding his return the stone age I stopped in front of this old trailer.

Baldwin-Ehert-Hill made a variety of asbestoses products of the course of its existence. Now it remains as interesting roadside relic.

Still Working – International Fleetstar

A few weeks back on the way to the McFadden plow day I passed this Fleetstar heading in the opposite direction.  Even on the flat land the Detroit under the hood was screaming away doing its best to convert diesel to noise.

Autocar Mondays – Town of Homer

This old Autocar just went up for auction two weeks ago. Unfortunately I made no attempt to bookmark the auction information so we have no idea what it was sold for or any other relevant specs. A logical guess would be a DK with Cummins PT250 matched to an 8LL trans.

Lost Treasure of RT 20

If you’ve ever attended the Madison Bouckville antique extravaganza you might have seen this trio resting by the roadside just east of the main selling fields. I can’t really tell for sure but that dozer in probably an IHC product like the two trucks.

Still Working – Ford Dump Truck

There is a possibility that this truck has been on this site before but you can’t be too safe when it comes to a beauty like this one. Marshall Excavating of Munnsville, NY is they happy owner of this fine look machine.

At the Dealer – The International MV

I showed this photo to someone the other day and they remarked it looked like a European style truck. I suppose the new bumper and grill style do give off that vibe. While International is now part of the VW empire under the TRATON banner this restyling was probably in the works before the buyout.

The Unknown Truck

A little something from the A&A Truck parts auction from this past spring. The answer is reveled in this video but the exact specific model is still up in the air.

McFadden Plow Day 2023

A few weekends back I made a trip east along the Cherry Valley Turnpike, AKA, NYS Route 20. I ended up in Sharon Springs, NY for the 2023 McFadden Plow day. There was a bunch of cool stuff there including a Big Bud NH360, a Unimog, a Detroit powered Oliver, and so on.

Hopefully you will enjoy this video along with some commentary from Preston. I’m happy without how it turned out considering I had a four year old perched on my shoulder. Apparently my Youtube audience has no interest in tractors as this video failed to break a 1,000 views.

Isn’t variety the spice of life?

Still Working – Diamond Reo Dump Truck

I first saw this truck on an overcast early spring afternoon. Even in the gloom and the fading light of the day it looked good. I was without my camera so I just had to hope I crossed paths with it again. As you can see, I did. And this time the light was just as good as you could hope.

The current owner is still working hard to bring this truck back to tip top shape. Looks pretty good already IMO.
