New York City and the surrounding metro area are the last know parts of the country in which Autocars still roam free in large numbers. Once enjoying a habitat range that spanned the majority of the continental United States, the Autocar is now endangered due to the wasting disease known as Volvo along with the introduction of calcium chloride to many road surfaces. Thanks largely to the dedicated stewardship of numerous trucking companies Autocars of many varieties and ages still flourish in what can now be considered the national Autocar sanctuary of the United States.
