Much like the Million Dollar Man, a Series 53 and 71 engine can be rebuilt and actually be better than it was from the factory, as the fine print reads, engine obsolescence has been put to an end. Of course the world has changed over the years. Increasing fuel prices and government mandated regulations regarding emissions have changed the core designs of many engines. Unfortunately, simplicity and reliability are no longer the key selling points.
