Big trucks need big tow trucks, simple as that. This International Paystar 5000 belongs to Big Red Towing. They run an impressive fleet of wreckers and flatbeds to meet the towing needs of CNY and beyond.

If the Paystar isn’t your thing maybe this ’07 Peterbilt with rotating boom will excite you.
Today I concluded our Trucks For The Home series with the ever classic Brockway 359. This was the final interesting truck at the Home and Garden Show and believe it or not I would have walked right past this truck if it was not for my wife. This Brockway 359 is owned by Barber and Deline Well Drilling of Tully, NY. Obviously the equipment on the back of the rig was used to drill wells.
Here is a tool that the average backyard gardener probably won’t have in their tool shed. A Ford L9000 with tree spade. A truck like this one is what you need when moving a large tree. The spade on the back actually performs double duty. First, it visits the future home of the tree and digs the proper sized hole. Next it moves the tree but encasing the entire root ball in the spade and hitting the road. No longer do you have to wait decades for a tree to mature into its adult size.
There is an old saying, variety is the spice of life. So today I am going to take a break from talks about snow plows and diesels and venture off road. Consider yourself warned, things are about to get spicy. Yesterday Jeep pulled the wraps off a group of amazing concept vehicles and performance packages. Feast your eyes on the Jeep Mighty FC, a vehicle that sources its inspiration from the forward control jeeps of the past.

Can you say ground clearance? Now, as cool as the Mighty FC is, I REALLY, REALLY want to see the truck below hit the showroom floor.

This is the Jeep J-12 Concept, a dream come true. You had me at steel wheels with chrome dog dish hub caps. Based on the Wrangler Unlimited chassis the frame was extended 18 inches to provide room for a full six foot long bed. Inside the cabin the spartan good looks of the J-12 continue with a bed liner replacing the carpet and exposed steel transmission hump. I want this. I would buy this right now. Jeep, please stop teasing us with pickup concepts and make one! Please!
Continuing the Trucks for the Home series I bring you this Waste Management Peterbilt setup to collect the “bagster”. The bagster looks like a dumpster made out of canvas. Because it is made out of a flexible material you can buy the bagster at many home improvement stores across the country and toss it your trunk for the trip home. To use, simply unfold and fill with debris, up to 3300lbs. Once full, call Waste Management for a pickup and truck like the one below will show up. Simple and easy for those jobs that generate waste larger than your typical trash can but don’t require a full sized dumpster.
Two weeks ago I attended a home show at the NYS Fair Grounds. Beside the thousands of vendors on hand promising free quotes and handing out cheap key chains and pens this bright green Freightliner was doing it parts to drum up sales.

This truck is used to spread dirt, mulch, or other organic stuff via air directly to the desired location. No dump trucks leaving ruts on the lawn. No large piles of material that require trip after trip with the wheel barrow. Noisy and fun!
Trucks For The Home continues with Part 2 tomorrow!
Today we have a classic truck…maybe. I’ve always had trouble identifying Peterbilts of the vintage shown below. The large square hood and grill is a design style that was used for decades by the quintessential American truck builder. Could it be from the 70’s, 80’s or 90’s? Your guess is as good as mine. The round single head lights point to decades past. Regardless of the year this Pete was working as site truck at a stalled commercial land plot, yet another victim of our weak economic state.
Thanks for sharing this great truck Marc! If you have an idea of the year or make let me know in the comment field below!
About a month ago Freightliner kicked of its 70th anniversary celebration with this nostalgic website. On this same website we were also teased with a the outline of concept truck to be revealed at the Mid American Truck Show. I know many of you were on the edge of you seat for weeks now, waiting and wondering what the future would hold. Well, the wait is over.
