2014 ATHS CNY Show

Another year, another great truck show hosted by the Central New York chapter of the American Truck Historical Society. Despite a gloomy forecast and persistent rain a good number of trucks made it to the show. Plenty of new faces and rigs for all to enjoy. If you like Peterbilt 359s this was the show for you! One of my personal favorites was this heavily modified International 4700. It just looks like a fun truck to cruise in or haul some toys around. A perfect rig for those far away truck shows. The spoke wheels up front with chrome lugs and center cap really help to pull off the look and work well with the plenty of tasteful custom touches throughout. Did you ever think the humble 4700 series could look so cool?

Continuing their tradition of excellence the Tackaberry Collection brought out their better than showroom quality Peterbilt. There are¬†literally no flaws in this truck. None. If you find one I’ll have no¬†choice but to call you a liar.

The Presidents Choice for the show this year was this 1966 Mack R600 owned by Joe Mento. Purchased used for a mere 500 dollars in the 80’s this bulldog is still running strong on its original Mack 711 diesel engine. No rebuilds here. This truck is a true time capsule in looks and smell! Seriously, half the appeal of this truck is soaking in all the details including that grease/fuel/work smell that only a real old truck can posses.

As I said many great trucks and people were in attendance and I didn’t even come close to covering most of it. Take a moment to browse through the gallery below and pick your own favorite. As the week goes on the show will come back to life in video form. You’ll be able to watch me get covered in soot from a Detroit Diesel rain storm or enjoy some of the many 359’s I mentioned from above.
